BECOMING A 2002 SUMMIT DELEGATE

The Second National Summit on Retirement Savings

27 February - 1 March 2002

Background

In 1997, the "Savings Are Vital to Everyone's Retirement (SAVER) Act" was passed in Congress and signed by the President. As part of the bill, the first National Summit on Retirement Savings was held on June 4-5, 1998 in Washington, D.C. The Summit, jointly convened by the President and the bipartisan leadership of Congress, strived to increase public awareness of the importance of retirement planning and to identify ways to promote greater retirement savings by all Americans.

Additional information on the 1998 National Summit on Retirement Savings can be found at: www.saversummit.org For information on the second National Summit on February 27 - March 1, 2002, see: www.saversummit.dol.gov The SAVER legislation (in .pdf format) is available for your review at: www.saversummit.org Please refer to pages 4, 5, and 6 for language regarding the appointment of national summit participants.

Becoming a 2002 SAVER Summit Delegate

Below please find contact details pertaining to the individuals who should be written to with delegate "nominations" and "bio" information if your organization wishes to have one of your executives considered for appointment as a SAVER Summit Delegate. The Congressional leaders are to have nominations to the Department of Labor by November 15, 2001. This information was announced by Labor Secretary Chao on Friday, October 26th, so time is of the essence.

You are encouraged to fax and email your letter, rather than mailing it, as the Washington, DC mail system is still experiencing delivery problems.
